Getting Started

PlanCayman is a long-range comprehensive plan which will be used to guide physical development and the overall use of land on Grand Cayman. The purpose of the Plan is to assist residents, developers, government agencies and the Central Planning Authority by establishing goals, objectives and guidelines for future development.

The Plan is a living document and will be reviewed and updated as actions are achieved and conditions change.

Once complete PlanCayman will replace the 1997 Development Plan for Grand Cayman and will be comprised of the following.

Long-term vision, goals and objectives for Grand Cayman.

More detailed planning policies and guidance for particular areas in Grand Cayman.

Development Guidelines and legislative version of the Plan.

PlanCayman seeks to achieve the following vision for Grand Cayman:

High-density developments and major commercial uses will be focussed in identified suitable  areas although locally-serving neighbourhood centres and smaller-scale tourism will be encouraged in other locations around the Island. Sustainable growth in residential development will be accommodated throughout Grand Cayman  and facilitated by improved connections. Natural environmental assets will be protected and enhanced wherever possible.
